Agartala, March 20: The Tripura Students Federation (TSF) has declared its decision to indifinite strike from tomorrow, advocating for the adoption of the Roman script in writing the Kokborok language. The announcement was made during a press conference held by TSF leadership earlier today.
According to TSF representatives, the demand for allowing the use of the Roman script in Kokborok for secondary and higher secondary examinations has been raised with the education department over an extended period. Despite repeated efforts, including submissions to the Chief Minister, the Board President, and the Governor, no action has been taken to address the issue.
During the press briefing, TSF members expressed their concern over students being compelled to write Kokborok in the Bengali script, leading to difficulties and dissatisfaction. The organization stated that they have previously undertaken various protest measures to highlight their grievances.
In view of the lack of progress on their demand, TSF has resolved to intensify their efforts by organizing a highway blockade tomorrow, urging authorities to consider the implementation of the Roman script for the Kokborok language.
