Agartala: March 30. Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today criticized the CPIM for attempting to erase the contribution of the Manikya dynasty in the state and said that due to their actions, society has suffered.

Dr. Saha said this while addressing the State Level Basanta Utsav at Kumari Tilla, at B.T. College Ground, Agartala, today.

“During the princely regime, Basanta Utsav was also celebrated. Both tribals and non-tribals participated in it. Kokborok songs composed by the late Maharaja used to be played during the festival. This is now history, and we should not forget such things. This year, we have also seen people celebrating Holi in many places. Through such events, we must continue to protect our culture and traditions. It feels great to be here and witness people from all sections of society coming together,” said Dr. Saha.

Dr. Saha noted that Rabindranath Tagore visited Tripura seven times and shared a close relationship with the late Maharajas of the Manikya dynasty.

“They honored him with great respect. However, the then government worked to erase the history of the Manikya dynasty. After our government came to power, we have given due recognition to the Manikya dynasty and the indigenous people. In this year’s budget, we have allocated a significant amount for the development of indigenous people and the overall progress of the state. Development is not possible by leaving anyone behind. People should be well-informed about Tripura. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working for the comprehensive development of the country, and the economy has significantly improved under his leadership. He has introduced various schemes for the poor, farmers, women, and youth,” he said.

He further stated that during the UPA government’s tenure, China occupied Indian territory, the Parliament was attacked, and the condition of the Northeast was dire.

“But soon after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, the situation improved significantly. Without peace, development is not possible. We have addressed all kinds of issues, and since the opposition has no real issues to raise, they walked out of the assembly by twisting a word. They are always engaged in negative politics. Due to their governance, society suffered immensely, with numerous cases of murder, rape, and other crimes occurring during their time. They are losing public support, and people no longer accept their rhetoric,” he added.

During the event Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, West District Magistrate Vishal Kumar and others were present.
