Agartala, October 2: Tripura will organise the ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’ and ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ across all eight districts on October 7 as part of the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Friday.
The statewide programmes are part of a nationwide campaign marking 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service. Preparations for the events were reviewed at an organisational meeting at the state party headquarters, with discussions focusing on coordination, participation and logistical arrangements.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chowdhury said the programmes were aimed at reinforcing the message of public service and taking it to different sections of society.
“Through these yatras, we aim to strengthen our collective commitment to public service and carry the message of seva to every section of society,” he said.
The Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra will feature a procession centred around the Seva Jyoti, besides cycle and motorcycle rallies at different locations across the state. The programmes are planned to be completed before 11 am on October 7, after which Modi’s address will be broadcast live, officials said.
Chowdhury has called for greater participation of college students and young people in the programme. BJP state president and MLA Abhishek Debroy has also stressed the need for increased youth participation.
Preparatory meetings have focused on ensuring coordination between organisers, district administrations and concerned departments. District Magistrates from all eight districts have participated in discussions on arrangements for conducting the programmes smoothly.
Officials from the Information and Cultural Affairs Department have also briefed the minister on the activities planned for the October 7 programme. The department has been involved in coordinating the arrangements, including rallies and public gatherings at designated locations.
The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is being observed from September 17 to October 17 and includes a series of programmes centred on public service and welfare-oriented activities. The Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra is among the major programmes planned under the campaign.
According to officials, the October 7 events will be held simultaneously across the state, with organisers seeking participation from different sections of society.
Chowdhury appealed to officials, organisational representatives and citizens to extend cooperation for the smooth conduct of the programmes.
He said coordinated efforts and wider participation would help carry the message of public service and social responsibility to people across Tripura.
