Agartala: June 11: Tripura is embarking on an ambitious project—the establishment of the largest flower garden in the northeastern region of India. The chosen site for this garden lies within the Tulasikhar Forest Range of Takarchai, Khowai district. As a pilot initiative, its success could pave the way for similar flower gardens in other districts across the state.

Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma made this announcement during a press conference held at the Secretariat in Agartala on Tuesday. He explained that due to various development projects, including national highway expansion, mature trees along roads had to be felled. However, this was necessary to widen the roads. To maintain environmental oxygen levels, over five lakh saplings will be planted in just five minutes on July 5. Collaborations have taken place with various departments, schools, colleges, social organizations, and the army to ensure the success of this endeavor.

Following the mass planting event, the entire month will be designated as Tree Plantation Month. The minister emphasized that planting saplings alone is insufficient—they must receive proper care throughout the year.

Notably, a significant number of trees will be planted alongside the expanded national highways. Additionally, various fruit saplings will find a home in this green initiative. Recognizing the need for novelty, the state government plans to transform existing amusement parks into multi-utility halls for social events. Furthermore, Rabindra Sangeet and Kokborok music will grace the Heritage Park, while Nehru Park is slated to house an aquarium. Work on these exciting projects is set to commence soon.
