Agartala, June 12: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the state’s achievements in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, skill development and economic growth at the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, reaffirming the state’s commitment to building strong human capital in line with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Addressing the meeting themed “Human Capital for Viksit Bharat”, Saha said Tripura has aligned its long-term development roadmap, Lakshya 2047, with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years in office and praised his leadership in driving India’s development agenda.

The Chief Minister said Tripura has doubled its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) over the past six years and emerged as the country’s third fully literate state. He noted that the state has received more than 350 national and regional awards in the last eight years.

Highlighting key educational initiatives, Saha said programmes such as Mission Mukul, SAHARSH and the Tripura School Quality and Accreditation Framework are improving learning outcomes and student well-being. Under the PM SHRI scheme, 84 schools are being developed as model institutions, while 125 CBSE-pattern schools have been established under the Vidyajyoti Programme.

In the healthcare sector, he said over three lakh beneficiaries have been covered under the Poshan Tracker initiative, while a School Health Mission has been launched in partnership with NITI Aayog. Medical education has also expanded significantly, with MBBS seats increasing from 225 to 550 and postgraduate seats from 85 to 196.

Saha highlighted the state’s efforts to empower women, noting that nearly 4.96 lakh rural women are associated with more than 55,000 Self-Help Groups. The female labour force participation rate has increased from 37.5 per cent in 2022 to 45.9 per cent in 2025.

The Chief Minister informed the Council that Tripura attracted investment proposals worth over Rs 30,000 crore during the past year, with projects exceeding Rs 8,000 crore already grounded. He said major companies, including Bharti Airtel, are setting up strategic facilities in the state, reflecting growing investor confidence in Tripura’s development potential.
