Agartala: In a joint operation, Tripura Police apprehended two Indian touts and a Bangladeshi woman at Agartala Railway Station late on Friday night. The arrests were made following a tip-off regarding unauthorized movement across borders.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Government Railway Police Station, Agartala, Tapas Das, law enforcement authorities received prior intelligence on the movement of Bangladeshi individuals attempting to enter India. The arrested Bangladeshi woman allegedly entered the country unlawfully and was being assisted in traveling to a tier-one city by the touts. However, their journey was disrupted by the swift intervention of the police and other security agencies.
Das disclosed the identities of those taken into custody, identifying the Indian touts as Krishna Debnath of Battala, Sabroom, and Tutan Dey from Rajnagar. The Bangladeshi woman was identified as Mahmuda Begam from Sharifpur district in Bangladesh.
A police case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS, IPP Act, and the Indian Foreigner Act against the accused individuals. They were presented before the court on Saturday, with law enforcement seeking police remand for further investigation.
