Agartala: Feb 17: Tripura Jana Adhikar Sangram Parishad has called for a three-hour mass sit-in in Agartala on February 20th. The sit-in will begin at 11 am in the Paradise Chowmuhani area of the capital. This was announced by the organization’s president, Subrata Bhowmik, during a press conference organized by the central committee of the Tripura Jana Adhikar Sangram Parishad in Dhaleswar on Monday.
Bhowmik stated that the farmers and working people of the country and the state have no income, and communal incidents are being created to cover up their plight. He mentioned that such incidents of communalism have taken place in various parts of the state in the last few months, including Kadamtala, Panisagar, and Rani Bazar. The mass sit-in has been called to protest against the creation of unrest and to raise awareness so that people can address their problems and secure their livelihood.
The movement will be organized in stages and includes 22 demands. The demands mainly involve providing jobs to the unemployed or providing them with an allowance, taking strict action against anti-national and extremist communal miscreants, filling vacant posts in various government departments, conducting a caste-based census, and increasing social allowance to Rs. 6,000.
