Tripura is moving towards becoming self-reliant in paddy production: Ratan Lal Nath

Agartala: Dec 01: Tripura is moving towards becoming self-sufficient in paddy production. Tripura ranks first in North-East region in paddy production. However, the deficit is 19.48 percent. This information came up during the discussion on North-East region in the meeting of the 26th Regional Committee of ICAR. State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this on Friday. In this meeting of ICAR, there was a discussion on the North-East region.

The discussion continued throughout the day. The officers discussed it. Union Agriculture Minister Kailash Chowdhury of the Ministry of Virtual Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Agriculture Ministers of various states of North-Eastern region including Tripura were present in the inaugural session. ICAR DG and other officials were present. Participating in the virtual meeting, Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that Tripura ranks second in the North-East region in terms of the number of crops produced per plot. Sikkim is in first position. The minister said that efforts are underway to increase it in the state.
