Agartala, September 2: In a remarkable display of compassion and community spirit, the Tripura Industry Owners’ Association observed its 9th foundation day on Tuesday by organizing a voluntary blood donation camp at Bodhjungnagar. The initiative was aimed not only at celebrating the association’s milestone but also at reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and public welfare.
The programme was inaugurated by Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who hailed blood donation as “the noblest gift in human life.” In his address, he urged citizens to come forward for such humanitarian causes, stressing that each unit of blood has the potential to save multiple lives. “Blood donation is not just an act of kindness, it is a duty towards society,” he remarked, drawing applause from participants.
In addition to the blood donation drive, the association also organized free eye check-ups and health screening camps, extending much-needed healthcare services to local residents. Minister Chowdhury personally visited the facilities, interacting with doctors, volunteers, and beneficiaries. He also took the opportunity to felicitate the children of industrial workers who had excelled in their secondary and higher secondary examinations. Certificates of academic achievement were distributed, encouraging the younger generation to continue striving for excellence.
Applauding the initiative, the Minister highlighted that such activities not only address urgent social needs but also strengthen the bond between industries and communities. “When citizens, workers, and industry come together for a cause like this, it reflects true social unity,” he said.
TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik, who was also present, praised the Industry Owners’ Association for blending industrial growth with humanitarian values. “This initiative is a shining example of how industry can go beyond economic contribution and play a vital role in community development. It sets the benchmark for others to emulate,” he noted.
The event concluded with heartfelt thanks extended to donors, medical teams, and volunteers. By combining healthcare services, educational encouragement, and humanitarian outreach, the association’s foundation day celebration served as a reminder that industrial development and social responsibility can move hand in hand for the greater good of society.
