In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and accelerating development initiatives, the Tripura Government has appointed senior IAS officer Shantanu, a 1997-batch officer of the Tripura cadre, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Shantanu will take charge at the TTAADC headquarters in Khumulwng, succeeding Raval Hemendra Kumar, IAS, who has been serving as CEO of the council. The appointment is being viewed as an important move by the state government to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure the effective implementation of welfare and development programmes in the tribal areas.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department, Shantanu has been repatriated to the state after completing his tenure on central deputation. Upon his return, he has been posted as Principal Secretary to the Government of Tripura in the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) at Level 15 of the Pay Matrix.

In addition to his responsibilities as Principal Secretary, Shantanu has also been entrusted with the charge of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. He will simultaneously serve as CEO of the TTAADC, reflecting the government’s confidence in his administrative capabilities and extensive experience in public service.

Widely regarded as one of Tripura’s most accomplished bureaucrats, Shantanu most recently served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in New Delhi. During his tenure at the Centre, he played a crucial role in formulating and implementing policies aimed at promoting growth, connectivity and infrastructure development across the northeastern states.

Officials believe that his return to the state administration will bring renewed momentum to governance and development efforts. With decades of experience in policy formulation, project management and inter-governmental coordination, Shantanu is expected to strengthen collaboration between the state and central governments, facilitating faster execution of key welfare schemes and infrastructure projects, particularly in the tribal regions.

The notification further stated that K. Sasikumar has been relieved of the charge of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. Meanwhile, Raval Hemendra Kumar will be relieved of his additional responsibility as CEO of TTAADC once Shantanu formally assumes office.

State authorities emphasized that the appointments have been made in the interest of public service, with the objective of improving administrative efficiency and ensuring more responsive governance across critical departments.
