Tripura Government Aims to Establish Health and Education Hub

Agartala, September 10, 2024: The state government of Tripura has prioritized the establishment of a health and education hub, with efforts underway to set up a homeopathic and Ayurvedic medical college. This announcement was made by Chief Minister and Health Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha during the inauguration of the 3D Printing Solution Center at Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Saha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the inauguration of the 3D Printing Solution Center reflects the Prime Minister’s vision. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an education and health hub in the state and mentioned discussions with Union Health Minister JP Nadda about establishing a homeopathic and Ayurvedic medical college. Additionally, plans are in place to establish a hospital similar to AIIMS or RIMS in Tripura.

Dr. Saha highlighted the challenges faced in opening the dental college, noting that it was a long-term dream project. He praised the high-quality faculty and the success of the first batch of students, expressing his desire for Agartala Government Dental College to become a model educational institution in the country.

Tripura is the first state in the North East to have a 3D Printing Solution Center in a dental college, which is expected to enhance advanced procedures and reduce OPD pressure through AI. The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the institution’s future, noting that around 20 students have been admitted to the second batch.

Distinguished guests at the event included Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director (Science and Technology) of the DONER Ministry Tanung Jamo, Director of the State Health Department Professor Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, Director of the Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education Dr. HP Sharma, Additional Secretary of the Health Department Rajeev Dutta, MD of the National Health Mission Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury, Principal of Agartala Government Dental College Dr. Shalu Rai, and other doctors from the college hospital.
