Agartala: April 21: On Civil Services Day, Tripura made a significant mark as two of its regions received the Prime Minister’s Excellence Award 2024 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The awards were presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acknowledging achievements in governance and public welfare.
The District Magistrate and Collector of Gomati, Tarit Kanti Chakma, was honored in the “Overall Development of Districts” category. The recognition reflects efforts toward holistic district development, which was warmly acknowledged by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on social media.
In the “Aspirational Block Program” category, the Ganganagar Block of Dhalai District was awarded for its noteworthy progress. Saju Wahid, the District Magistrate and Collector of Dhalai, accepted the award on behalf of the Ganganagar Block. A presentation highlighted various milestones, such as connecting over 2,200 households to the CHG network, achieving 100% distribution of revolving funds and supplementary nutrition to target groups, and the construction of 1,600 houses. Advancements in digital boards and e-learning also contributed to this recognition.
The Prime Minister’s Excellence Award scheme, as outlined in a PIB press release, honors innovative and impactful governance across India. For 2024, priorities included district development, aspirational block initiatives, and innovation. From 1,588 nominations, 14 recipients were selected through a rigorous evaluation process. Each award comprises a trophy, a scroll, and ₹20 lakh for implementation of welfare projects or addressing resource gaps.
This recognition reinforces Tripura’s commitment to development and the effective implementation of welfare initiatives.
