Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, joined the meeting virtually. Senior officials from the central and state governments also attended, reflecting the Centre’s growing emphasis on the economic development of the Northeast.

During the meeting, Dr. Saha highlighted that the task force has decided to conduct stakeholder consultations involving industry associations, potential investors, and officials from the North Eastern states. The goal is to formulate a comprehensive strategic roadmap to promote investment across key sectors in the region.

To support this initiative, reputed academic institutions and expert agencies will be engaged in drafting a robust Investment Policy tailored specifically for the North Eastern Region. This policy will serve as a guiding document to attract investments and drive sustainable development across the eight northeastern states.

Dr. Saha shared updates from the meeting through a post on social media, underlining the government’s commitment to transforming the region into an investment-friendly zone.

Among those present at the meeting were Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, and senior secretaries including Kiran Gitte, Apurba Roy, and Abhishek Singh. Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, CEO of the Agartala Smart City Mission, also attended, along with other key officials.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in the Centre’s vision of integrating the Northeast into India’s larger economic growth narrative and ensuring that the region becomes a hub for industry, infrastructure, and innovation.
