Agartala, Aug 10 — Days before the country marks its 79th Independence Day, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, participated in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Agartala on Sunday.
The leaders, joined by party workers and local residents, distributed national flags to households across the city, with special focus on children and women. Walking through residential areas, they personally encouraged citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and public places.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the Chief Minister urged people, particularly the youth, to learn about the national flag, the sacrifices of freedom fighters, and the long struggle for India’s Independence. “Through this campaign, we honour the sacrifice of our warriors who gave their lives for the nation and those who serve tirelessly to safeguard our sovereignty,” he said.
Saha noted that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, launched under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, has been observed in Tripura for the past two years. This year’s drive began on August 2 and is being held in three phases, culminating on August 15.
On social media, the Chief Minister posted: “Celebrating the spirit of Independence! August is a month of pride, and the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative brings our nation together. Let’s honour the sacrifices of our martyrs and wave the Tricolour high!”
The event drew enthusiastic participation, with children waving flags and chanting patriotic slogans, setting the tone for the upcoming celebrations. The Ministry of Culture is the nodal agency for the nationwide campaign, aimed at invoking patriotism and promoting awareness about the Indian national flag.
