New Delhi, March 5: A new initiative under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) is set to provide a major push to women-led enterprises in rural India. The concept of SHE-MARTs aims to help women entrepreneurs move beyond small-scale local production and sales, enabling them to build brands and compete in national markets.

Officials said SHE-MARTs will function not merely as marketplaces but as dynamic hubs of enterprise, where rural women can showcase products, access better marketing opportunities, and strengthen business networks. The initiative seeks to ensure that women receive fair prices for their products while gaining the confidence and exposure needed to scale up their ventures.

By integrating branding, packaging, and modern retail practices, SHE-MARTs are envisioned as platforms that transform grassroots producers into competitive entrepreneurs. The programme underlines the government’s belief that empowering women economically is central to achieving inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Highlighting the broader vision, officials stated that “today’s women entrepreneurs are tomorrow’s business leaders,” stressing the need to create long-term opportunities for rural women to thrive in evolving markets.

To further outline this roadmap, the Post-Budget Webinar Session – 2026 on ‘SHE-MARTs for Rural Women-led Enterprises’ will be addressed by Narendra Modi. The session is expected to detail strategies for expanding market access, strengthening supply chains, and enhancing the role of women-led enterprises in India’s economic progress.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building a self-reliant nation by placing rural women at the forefront of entrepreneurship and economic transformation.
