Agartala, July 16: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the CPI(M), describing the party and its affiliated organisations as an “institution of falsehood.” He also asserted that the state’s “chariot of development” continues to move forward, reflecting the government’s commitment to progress and public welfare.

The Chief Minister made the remarks after offering prayers at the newly renovated Sri Sri Nrisingha Devata and Sri Sri Ram-Janaki Temple at the Old Motor Stand in Agartala. He said the state government is dedicated to preserving Tripura’s rich cultural, religious, and historical heritage through the restoration and renovation of temples and heritage sites associated with the erstwhile royal era.

Dr. Saha said these restoration efforts aim to reconnect the younger generation with the state’s glorious past and instil greater awareness of Tripura’s cultural legacy. Recalling his childhood, he shared that he had visited the temple numerous times and described it as an important spiritual centre that continues to hold immense significance for local residents.

Offering prayers at the renovated temple, the Chief Minister sought peace, prosperity, and the overall well-being of the people of Tripura.

Responding to questions from journalists, Dr. Saha criticised the CPI(M), alleging that its office at Melarmath and its affiliated organisations had become an “institution of falsehood.” He also strongly condemned the reported use of the word “idiot” by Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhary while referring to the police, calling the remark inappropriate and unacceptable.

Highlighting the government’s development agenda, the Chief Minister said the state is witnessing steady progress across various sectors. He reiterated that the government’s focus remains on infrastructure development, heritage conservation, and ensuring the welfare of citizens while safeguarding Tripura’s cultural identity.

Several senior officials and public representatives accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit. Among those present were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, and other dignitaries.

The temple renovation forms part of the state government’s broader initiative to preserve places of historical and religious importance while promoting cultural tourism and strengthening public participation in heritage conservation.
