Tripura CEO Hosts Interactive Meet with Media to Promote Transparent Elections

Agartala: May 20: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura, on Friday organized an interactive session with editors and representatives from leading print, electronic, and digital media platforms at the State Guest House in Agartala.

The session was chaired by Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey, who was joined by Additional CEO Ushajen Mog and Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department. Media professionals from across the state participated in the event, which focused on strengthening collaboration between the media and the Election Department.

During the session, CEO Brijesh Pandey highlighted the crucial role of the media in ensuring the public receives accurate, timely, and verified information, particularly during elections. He emphasized that the Election Commission of India mandates regular interactions with the media to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and public trust in the democratic process.

“These interactive sessions not only enhance communication but also help counter misinformation and ensure the integrity of the electoral process,” Pandey said.

Prominent journalists and editors, including Manas Pal, Jayanta Debnath, Abhishek Dey, Sujit Dey, Manisha Pal Choudhury, Hirak Gupta, and Sandeep Biswas, shared insights and offered suggestions on how communication could be further streamlined during polling periods. Avishikta Lodh, Proprietor and Managing Editor of Tripura Times, was also present and participated actively in the discussions.

Media outlets represented at the session included All India Radio, Doordarshan Tripura, Tripura Times, Headlines Tripura, News Vanguard, Manush Patrika, News Today, TripuraIndia.com, and TripuraToday.com.

To conclude the event, the CEO distributed a special publication titled “India Votes – A Saga of Democracy”, reflecting on India’s electoral journey and democratic values.
