Agartala, July 27: The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated disciplinary action against two party members, including a former Member of the District Council (MDC), for allegedly violating organisational discipline and repeatedly engaging in anti-party activities.

According to a press release issued by the state BJP on Monday, the action was taken under the direction of the State BJP President after the party found the two individuals guilty of breaching organisational discipline and acting against the interests of the party.

Former MDC Padmalochan Tripura has been suspended from all party responsibilities and organisational activities with immediate effect. The BJP stated that despite being warned on several occasions, he continued to violate party discipline and remained involved in activities considered detrimental to the organisation.

The party also alleged that Padmalochan Tripura had been using social media platforms to circulate content that adversely affected the BJP’s image and undermined organisational discipline. According to the statement, such actions were viewed as inconsistent with the party’s principles and code of conduct, prompting the leadership to take disciplinary measures.

In a separate decision, the BJP expelled Debashish Saha, also known as Kanai, from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect. Saha is a member of Booth No. 16 under the 8-Town Bordowali Mandal. The party accused him of engaging in anti-party activities that violated the organisational discipline expected of its members.

The BJP emphasised that maintaining organisational unity, discipline and adherence to its ideological principles remains its top priority. It asserted that no individual, irrespective of position or status, is above the organisation and that every member is expected to abide by the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

Reaffirming its commitment to organisational discipline, the party said it would continue to take strict and appropriate action against any member found acting against the BJP’s ideology, organisational principles or collective interests.

The statement further underlined that disciplinary measures are essential to preserving the party’s integrity and ensuring that its organisational structure functions effectively. The BJP maintained that such actions are intended to strengthen internal discipline and reinforce accountability within the organisation.
