The condolence meeting was held inside the Assembly premises, where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, ministers of the ruling party, treasury bench legislators and members of the Opposition were present. A deep sense of grief marked the occasion as the House observed a moment of silence in memory of the departed leader. Floral tributes were offered and a formal condolence salute was paid as a mark of respect to the former Speaker, who was remembered for his commitment to democratic values and parliamentary traditions.

Speakers at the Assembly recalled Bishwabandhu Sen’s role as a seasoned legislator and his calm, dignified conduct while presiding over House proceedings. Leaders cutting across political affiliations acknowledged his efforts to uphold the dignity of the Assembly and ensure smooth functioning through consensus and discipline.

Later in the day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tripura Pradesh office also organised a separate programme to pay final tributes to the late leader. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, senior BJP leaders, party functionaries and workers gathered at the party headquarters to express their condolences.

Floral wreaths were laid at his portrait, and leaders remembered Bishwabandhu Sen as a dedicated party worker and a respected public representative who served the people with sincerity and integrity. Party leaders noted that his demise is an irreparable loss not only to the BJP but also to Tripura’s political and legislative landscape.

The condolence programmes reflected the widespread respect Bishwabandhu Sen commanded across political divides. His passing has left a void in the state’s public life, with leaders and citizens alike remembering him as a person who combined administrative acumen with humility and a deep sense of responsibility.

As Tripura mourns the loss of the former Speaker, tributes from the Assembly and the party office underscored his enduring legacy in the state’s democratic journey.
