Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath on Thursday laid the foundation stones for several development projects in the Gomati district, aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and empowering the farming community, particularly in the Matabari assembly constituency.
As part of the initiatives, Minister Nath laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art market stall at Kalaban Bazar under the Matabari Agriculture Sub-Division. Supported by the Agriculture Department, this project, with an estimated cost of ₹2.20 crore, is expected to significantly benefit local farmers and traders by providing improved marketing infrastructure and facilities.
The ceremony was attended by Matabari MLA Abhishek Debroy, MLA Jitendra Majumder, and senior officials from the department.
In a parallel development, the Agriculture Minister participated in a mega awareness camp held in Garji under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This centrally sponsored scheme promotes the use of solar energy in rural households to reduce electricity costs and promote sustainable energy practices. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, highlighting the region’s growing interest in renewable energy.
Furthering the goal of agricultural modernization, Nath also laid the foundation for the Matabari Agri Development Research-cum-Training Centre. This upcoming facility will focus on equipping farmers with modern farming techniques, computer literacy, and video conferencing capabilities for enhanced learning and collaboration.
“This centre will open new doors of opportunity for farmers in Matabari and nearby areas, offering vital training to improve soil fertility and increase crop yields,” Nath shared in a social media post.
These infrastructure projects represent a significant step in strengthening the agricultural ecosystem of Tripura and underline the government’s commitment to rural development and farmer welfare through technological and institutional support.
