According to police sources, the incident took place at around 11:05 am when personnel on duty attempted to stop a Super Carry Mini Pickup that was travelling from Khowai towards Kamalpur. However, the driver ignored the signal to stop and attempted to flee from the checking point.

Sensing suspicious activity, the police team immediately chased the vehicle and managed to intercept it after a brief pursuit. The vehicle was then brought under control and subjected to a thorough search by the officers present at the naka point.

During the inspection, police discovered a specially built secret chamber inside the vehicle. Upon opening it, officers recovered 110 kilograms of dry cannabis that had been carefully concealed in an apparent attempt to evade detection. The contraband was immediately seized by the police.

Following the recovery, a case was registered at Kamalpur Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

A senior police official stated that the operation reflects the firm commitment of Dhalai Police to intensify action against illegal drug trafficking and ensure safety and law enforcement in the district.
