Agartala, Oct 10 (PTI) Three youths from Tripura have secured jobs as machine operators with Balmer Lawrie in Dubai after completing a state-sponsored skill development programme, marking a significant achievement in the state’s efforts to create employment opportunities for young people in the international job market.
Abhoy Debnath, Sanjit Das and Ripan Das secured the overseas placements after successfully completing training under the Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa (MMDUP) at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Agartala, officials said.
The three candidates underwent 80 days of specialised training, comprising a total of 480 hours, to acquire the technical skills required for employment in the industrial sector.
Following their selection, they are expected to receive an average starting salary of Rs 65,000 per month. Their monthly earnings could increase to Rs 96,000 after six months, depending on their performance, according to the information provided by the authorities.
The placements highlight the potential of vocational training programmes to equip young people with industry-relevant skills and improve their access to employment opportunities beyond their home state.
An official said the achievement demonstrated how focused skill development initiatives could help youths from Tripura secure jobs in the global market and build careers in technical and industrial sectors.
The Directorate of Skill Development considers the placements an encouraging development in the state’s efforts to link vocational education with employment opportunities. Such initiatives aim to enhance the employability of young people by imparting practical skills aligned with industry requirements.
The overseas appointments are also expected to encourage other aspiring candidates to pursue specialised training and explore career opportunities outside the country.
For the three selected youths, the jobs offer an opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills in an international work environment, gain professional experience and improve their career prospects.
The development also underscores the importance of establishing links between training institutions and employers to ensure that skill development programmes translate into tangible employment outcomes.
Officials expressed hope that the successful placements would motivate more young people to enrol in vocational courses and consider technical careers in the domestic as well as international job markets.
The achievement is expected to strengthen awareness of skill-based education as a pathway to professional growth and overseas employment, while supporting Tripura’s broader efforts to improve youth employability through specialised training programmes.
