Agartala, November 29: The state government has decided to convert the Battala market into a modern market. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder said this while visiting Battala market today. He also visited the market and talked to the affected traders.

Incidentally, last Sunday late night around 150 vegetable shops in Battala market were burnt to ashes. Also, 15 to 20 grocery shops and other shops were completely gutted in the fire. It is reported that the fire took place around 1 am. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder said this while visiting Battala market today.

On this day, he met with the affected traders. On this day, he faced the journalists and said that today’s meeting mainly discussed the issue of providing government assistance to the affected businessmen and arranging the Battala market in a new form.

On this day, he also said that the government has decided to turn the Battala market into a modern market. Already, a survey has been started by the government to transform the market into a modern market. Besides providing all facilities to the traders of Battala market, packing zone will also be arranged, he said. He said that the government will take all kinds of initiatives to provide opportunities to buyers and sellers.
