Agartala: Feb 12: If anyone is prevented from going to vote on the February 16 polling day, the person will be jailed for one to three years under the Reprisal Act. A fine will also be imposed. And if that person is a government employee, he will be jailed for three years. State Election Commission Chief Officer Kiran Gitte said this in a press conference organized at the conference hall of West District Governor’s office on Sunday. There are three protocols on assembly elections. One is 78 hour protocol; another is 48 hour protocol and 24 hour protocol.These protocols will come into force from February 13. Various hotels and guesthouses will be searched as per protocols. If the person staying in the hotel is not from the constituency then he should leave the hotel or guest house before four o’clock on February 14. If a political party in-charge is in Tripura then he has to file a claim with the Election Commission as to which party has appointed him and he wants to be in the right place. From February 14, four to five people will not be able to walk on the road together. Candidates of political parties can travel with three vehicles and five people on polling day. And no voter can be picked up in a car. Tripura – Assam and Tripura – Mizoram border have three roads. These three roads will be sealed from February 13.Besides this, the international border of Bangladesh will be sealed. No bike procession will be allowed within 72 hours before the election. Accordingly, no bike procession will be allowed from February 13. The candidates who are nominated will be asked to account how much money they have spent on the election on February 13. And Election Observation Team is in charge of it. As per the protocol 48 hours before the election, no election program can be held after 4 pm on February 14. No loudspeakers may be used. No party propaganda can be done. On February 9, 10 and 11, Divyangan and above 80 voters cast their votes in the state. About 8500 voters exercised their democratic rights. Postal ballot voting is being held on February 8-12. Of these, more than 56,000 have used postal ballots for voting.
