The Shambhu Chandra Para Senior Basic School in Lembucherra, under Lefunga jurisdiction of Mohanpur subdivision, is struggling with a severe shortage of teachers and inadequate infrastructure, prompting school authorities and local residents to seek urgent government intervention.

According to school authorities, the institution is sanctioned to have eight teachers, but only four are currently serving. The shortage has compelled teachers to manage multiple classes simultaneously, disrupting regular lessons and affecting the quality of education.

The school is also facing serious infrastructure deficiencies. Toilet facilities are inadequate, particularly for girl students, creating difficulties in maintaining basic hygiene. The campus also lacks a boundary wall, allowing cattle and goats to frequently enter the school premises and move around near classrooms.

Headmaster Jayanta Debbarma has urged the Education Department to take immediate steps to address the problems. He called for the appointment of additional teachers, construction of proper toilet facilities and installation of a boundary wall to ensure a safe and hygienic learning environment.

Speaking to the media, Debbarma said the problems had continued for years without any permanent solution. He stressed that immediate government action was essential to restore normal teaching conditions and protect students’ educational interests.

Parents and local residents have also raised concerns over the prolonged neglect of the school. They warned that continued shortages and poor infrastructure could adversely affect the educational prospects of children in the rural area.

They appealed to the authorities to treat the issue as a priority and ensure that students receive adequate teaching facilities and a safe environment for learning.
