Agartala: July 24. Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha, on Monday, directed officials to maintain regular contact with the concerned central ministry to obtain approval for all state projects awaiting clearance from the central government.

The Chief Minister made this statement during a review meeting of the ‘Suvarna Jayanti Tripura Nirman Yojona’ held at the Secretariat today.

“The government is working with importance in the development of infrastructure in various fields including education, health, PWD in the state. In the state budget of the current financial year, funds have been allocated for the infrastructural development of various departments. They should be regularly reviewed by the concerned departments so that the work can be implemented in time. The officials of the department should keep regular contact with the concerned central ministry in order to get approval for all the projects of the state which have been sent to the central government for approval”, said Chief Minister.

During the review meeting, Abhishek Chandra, Secretary of the Planning and Coordination Department, provided an update on the progress of the ‘Subarna Jayanti Tripura Nirman Yojona,’ launched during the 2022-23 financial year. The project aims to promote infrastructural development across various departments and is planned for three financial years, from 2022-23 to 2024-25. The total budget for the project is Rs 1000 crores. In the financial year 2022-23, Rs 621.12 crore had already been spent on this initiative. For the financial year 2023-24, Rs 209.67 crore has been allocated for infrastructural development in various departments as part of this project.

Some of the projects include the establishment of a separate Infectious Disease Treatment Center at Agartala Government Medical College and GB Pant Hospital, with an estimated cost of Rs 55 crore, the construction of a science building at Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya in Udaipur, costing Rs 40 crore, construction of a new office building for Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat, with an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore, construction of two youth hostels in Kailashahar and Udaipur, with a budget of Rs 25 crore, and the establishment of 31 mobile common service centers, among others.

In addition to the budgeted projects, the Secretary informed that 21 additional works, amounting to Rs 64 crore, will also be implemented under the Suvarna Jayanti Tripura Nirman Yojana in the current financial year.

The review meeting saw the presence of Finance Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Chief Minister’s Secretary PK Chakraborty, and other officials.
