Agartala: Jan 18: On Saturday, students from a local school in Khowai district undertook a unique responsibility by performing duties at the Khowai Police Station for two hours. The students even sat in the chair of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) and directed other police personnel to go on duty, marking an unusual but inspiring sight. This initiative was part of an effort to give students firsthand experience of how a police station operates and to educate them about the role of law enforcement in society.

According to Sanjay Ray, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the state police, this program was designed to give students a practical understanding of the functioning of a police station. By allowing them to take on the responsibilities for a brief period, the aim was to help them become more aware of police work and encourage them to consider a career in law enforcement. The initiative is also expected to reduce criminal activities in society, as it emphasizes the importance of following the law and discourages individuals from taking matters into their own hands.

This was the first time such a program was held in the state, and the students were highly motivated by the experience. The police administration believes that initiatives like these help to guide the community in the right direction and instill a sense of responsibility and discipline among the youth. Present at the event were Khowai district’s Police Superintendent Ramesh Yadav, along with other local officials. The event was seen as a significant step towards fostering a better understanding between the youth and law enforcement.
