Minister Debbarma also announced initiatives to modernize the statistics department, including the construction of a new office building. Currently, the Statistics Department operates in four districts of the state, with plans to expand to other districts.

The event coincided with Statistics Day, celebrated on the birth anniversary of Professor Prashanta Chandra Mahalabish, the father of modern statistics. This year’s theme, “Use of Data for Decision Making,” underscores the importance of informed choices based on robust statistical analysis.

As part of the celebration, a blood donation camp was organized, with Minister Debbarma encouraging participation. Thirty-four officers and employees from the department donated blood. Abhishek Chandra, Special Secretary of the Department of Finance and Statistics, presented information about various programs through a PowerPoint presentation. Census Officer Ravindra Ryan discussed the need for accurate census data, and Additional Director Arup Kumar Chanda also addressed the gathering.

During the event, Minister Debbarma unveiled two books: “NSS Report Book: Debt and Investment” and “NSS Report Book: Household Social Consumption on Health in Tripura.” The occasion began with guests paying tribute to Professor Prashanta Chandra Mahalabish by offering wreaths to his portrait.
