The three-day state-level training workshop on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0 concluded in Agartala on Saturday, marking an important step towards strengthening rural skill development initiatives in Tripura. The workshop, which commenced on January 15, witnessed the participation of Block Program Managers from across the state and was organized to enhance implementation strategies of the flagship scheme.

The primary objective of the workshop was to equip field-level officials with updated knowledge, operational clarity, and practical tools to ensure effective execution of DDU-GKY 2.0 at the grassroots level. The sessions focused on improving outreach, streamlining processes, and ensuring quality outcomes in skill training and placement for rural youth.

Addressing the participants, Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), emphasized the critical role of Block Program Managers in translating policy into action. He urged them to implement the scheme with “full energy and enthusiasm,” highlighting that proactive and committed execution is key to achieving meaningful impact. Chakma noted that DDU-GKY 2.0 has the potential to create sustainable livelihood opportunities and significantly improve the employability of rural youth across Tripura.

“The programme is expected to pave the way for more structured and impactful skill development initiatives in the state, aligning with the government’s vision of empowering rural communities through sustainable livelihoods,” Chakma stated.

The technical sessions were led by Dr. Anish K. R., National Resource Person from the Ministry of Rural Development, who provided in-depth guidance on operational guidelines, best practices, and innovative approaches under DDU-GKY 2.0. His sessions offered valuable insights into improving training quality, monitoring outcomes, and strengthening industry linkages.

Officials observed that the workshop successfully brought together representatives from all blocks onto a common platform, fostering coordination, shared learning, and a clearer understanding of the scheme’s objectives. The training is expected to contribute significantly to the effective rollout of DDU-GKY 2.0 and reinforce Tripura’s commitment to inclusive rural development through skill empowerment.
