Agartala: August 14: On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and five other police personnel from Tripura have been selected for the prestigious Medal for Meritorious Service, as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The awardees from Tripura include Ratiranjan Debnath, DIG; Dilip Kumar Singha, Havildar; Pashu Ram Debbarma, Subedar; Dhruba Kapali, Constable; Uttam Debnath, Constable; and Hemendra Chandra Nath, Constable. Their selection reflects their consistent dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contributions to maintaining law and order in the state.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), a total of 1,090 personnel from Police, Fire Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services across the country have been conferred Gallantry and Service Medals this year.
Out of the total awards, 233 personnel have received the Medal for Gallantry (GM) for acts of exceptional bravery, 99 personnel have been honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) for long and exemplary service, and 758 personnel have been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) in recognition of their noteworthy performance and devotion to duty.
The Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to personnel who have displayed exceptional commitment and have gone beyond their routine responsibilities to serve the community. For the Tripura awardees, this recognition underscores their significant role in ensuring public safety and upholding the values of the police force.
The announcement of these honours on Independence Day serves as a tribute not only to the individual officers but also to the collective efforts of the Tripura Police in maintaining peace, preventing crime, and fostering a secure environment for the citizens of the state.
