Agartala: August 14: The Central Government has approved the appointment of senior IAS officer Shailesh Kumar Yadav, a 2013-batch officer of the Tripura cadre, as Deputy Secretary in the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
An official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) stated that Yadav will take up his new assignment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of four years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Yadav, who is currently serving as Director of Industries & Commerce, Mission Director of the Tripura Bamboo Mission, and Managing Director of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Ltd., is expected to be relieved of his present responsibilities shortly to assume charge in New Delhi.
His appointment to the NHA comes at a strategically important time, as the authority is driving key health sector reforms and implementing flagship initiatives such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). These programmes aim to enhance healthcare accessibility, affordability, and quality across India through digital health solutions and universal health coverage.
Yadav’s experience in administrative leadership, policy implementation, and development projects is expected to contribute significantly to the NHA’s mission. During his tenure in Tripura, he has been closely associated with initiatives aimed at industrial growth, bamboo-based economic development, and entrepreneurship promotion, earning recognition for his proactive governance approach.
With this appointment, Yadav joins the ranks of senior civil servants from Tripura taking on crucial roles at the national level. His new posting underscores the Centre’s focus on deploying experienced officers to drive impactful programmes in priority sectors, particularly healthcare, which continues to be a critical area of governance and public service delivery.
