Second Phase of Lok Sabha Elections in North Tripura District: Polling Underway

Agartala: April 25: The BB&I premises in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district, have been abuzz with activity since early morning as polling personnel set off for their designated polling stations, equipped with EVMs, VVPATs, and security arrangements. The second phase of Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for April 26, which falls on Friday.

Peaceful polling for Bar Council across Tripura

Notably, 17 polling stations in North Tripura district will be fully staffed by women. Additionally, 14 polling stations have been designated as model polling stations. The Deputy Commissioner has expressed his intention to visit these model polling stations and those manned by women to assess their operations. His observations have largely been positive, reflecting the efficient functioning of most polling stations.

The voter count in North Tripura district stands at a total of 331,303, comprising 166,099 male voters, 165,202 female voters, and 2 third-gender voters. A dedicated team of 799 officers has been deployed for polling duties across the district.

The North Tripura constituency holds significant importance for Bru voters, with 10,248 registered Bru voters. Notably, this election marks the first time voting is being conducted in this constituency following the tripartite agreement, making the Lok Sabha elections from the East Tripura reserved seat particularly crucial.
