Agartala: Infamous for doing a lot of nasty stuff with the future of Tripura players, Tripura Olympic Association Chief Rupak Debroy appears to be at the eye of a storm as a team of cops under the leadership of OC East Agartala Police Station Rana Chatterjee raided his residence on Friday night. Earlier in the morning, a group of Tripura athletes staged a protest in front of his house seeking police action against Debroy. Some of the athletes claimed that Debroy, who led the state’s Kabaddi contingent to a national level tournament, left some players in the railway station and returned. One Sagar Dey who got stranded at New Delhi, somehow, managed to reach Tripura after a lot of hurdles. Earlier, allegations like misappropriation of funds, nepotism and favoring other state players for playing in Tripura side in lieu of pecuniary benefits were raised against him. Speaking on the issue, OC East Agartala Police Station Rana Chatterjee said, “Some players have filed an FIR with the police station against him. Accordingly, we arrived here to talk to him but we failed to meet him. His wife has informed us that he was not in home”.
