Jaipur, Oct 22: A 21-year-old youth from Alwar, Rajasthan, identified as Ajit Chaudhary, has gone missing in Russia, where he was pursuing an MBBS degree at Buxar State University in Ufa. His family, who sold three bighas of land to fund his education, has appealed to the Indian government for help in tracing him.

According to reports, Ajit, a resident of Kafanwada village in Laxmangarh, has been missing since around 11 p.m. on October 19. His roommate informed police that Ajit had gone to collect milk from the warden but never returned. On October 20, Russian police recovered his jacket and mobile phone from a riverbank in Ufa, and four hours later, his shoes were found nearby.

Ajit’s uncle, Bhoom Singh, said the family was first informed of the incident by Russian police. “Initially, we were confused, but Ajit’s roommate later spoke to the warden and informed us. Now, even the warden isn’t responding properly, and the college administration has not provided any clear information,” he said.

The family suspects foul play. “It seems the warden is hinting that Ajit might have jumped into the river, but no one is confirming this,” Bhoom Singh added.

Just an hour before his disappearance, Ajit had video-called his mother, Santara Devi, and sister, Geeta, around 10 p.m., wishing them a happy Diwali. He was scheduled to return to India next month.

Devastated by the incident, his father, Roop Singh, and other family members have written to Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, urging government intervention. “Our son has been missing in Russia since October 19. Please help us find him soon,” the letter reads.

Russian authorities continue their search, but no concrete leads have emerged so far, leaving the family anxious and heartbroken.
