Intense tension has gripped the Peratia–Bankumari rail bridge area in Gomati district after the body of a young woman, bearing gunshot wounds, was recovered from the nearby sal forest. The shocking discovery has left local residents stunned and triggered widespread speculation about the circumstances of the incident.
According to preliminary information, a young man allegedly shot the woman with a firearm before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide. However, police officials stated that all possible angles are being investigated and no conclusion has been drawn yet.
Police sources confirmed that the identity of the deceased woman has not yet been established. During the initial search of the crime scene, officers recovered a vehicle bearing registration number TR 03 N 0560 and a foreign-made pistol, believed to be the weapon used in the incident.
A forensic team has already arrived at the spot and begun collecting samples and evidence. Their findings are expected to play a crucial role in determining the sequence of events leading to the fatal incident.
Both bodies have been sent to Gomati District Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police officials said that the results of the autopsy will help clarify the exact cause of death and confirm whether the incident was indeed a case of murder-suicide.
