Dharmanagar, June 17: A controversy has surfaced in North Tripura after allegations emerged that three police personnel, officially transferred from Dharmanagar Police Station several weeks ago, continue to remain posted there despite formal transfer orders issued by the district police administration.

The issue has raised questions regarding administrative accountability, transparency, and the implementation of official directives within the police department.

According to sources, the office of the Superintendent of Police, North Tripura District, issued transfer orders on May 23 for Sub-Inspector (SI) Nikunj Debnath, SI Manoj Kumar Pal, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Niranjan Malakar. However, despite the passage of several weeks, the three officers are reportedly still functioning in their previous roles at Dharmanagar Police Station.

The matter has drawn particular attention in the case of SI Manoj Kumar Pal, who is alleged to have continued handling new investigations even after receiving the transfer order. Local residents and observers have questioned whether such actions are in accordance with established administrative procedures.

The development has triggered debate among members of the public, civic groups, and local stakeholders. Several residents have expressed concern that delays in implementing transfer orders could undermine public confidence in law enforcement institutions and create confusion regarding official responsibilities.

Some community members have also linked the controversy to past allegations concerning illegal activities, including gambling and illicit liquor trade in the region. However, no evidence has been officially presented connecting the transferred officers to such activities, and these allegations remain unverified.

Police sources indicated that the officers may not have been relieved immediately due to ongoing assignments and operational requirements. Nevertheless, the district police administration has yet to issue any formal clarification regarding the reasons behind the delay in implementing the transfers.

The absence of an official statement has fueled speculation and intensified public discussion on the matter. Many residents are now demanding a transparent explanation from the authorities and timely action to ensure compliance with administrative orders.

Observers believe the incident highlights the importance of strengthening internal accountability mechanisms within government institutions. They argue that the prompt execution of official orders is essential for maintaining discipline, transparency, and public trust in the functioning of law enforcement agencies.
