Agartala: Sept 21: In response to recent incidents of violence, including arson and attacks on indigenous communities, the Tripura State and Raima Valley Bhikkhu Sangh organized a protest rally in the state capital on Saturday. The incidents, which have affected Buddhists in Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Dirghinala areas of the Chattagram Hill Tract in Bangladesh, have raised significant concern.
The Bhikkhus, calling for immediate government intervention, traversed various routes of the city, starting from Venuvan Bihar in the Buddhamandir area.
Speaking to reporters, Monk Ven Khemchera condemned the atrocities against minority communities in Bangladesh, including the looting and vandalism of a Buddha statue in Vanrupa Maitri Vihar. “The situation is worsening with every passing day, and therefore we urge the Government of India to immediately intervene and try to bring the situation under control and save the minorities,” he stated.
