At present there are nine members in the Tripura cabinet. Out of this, 8 BJP and 1 IPFT have been inducted into the cabinet. The first meeting of the cabinet was held this morning. In that meeting, the pro tem speaker and vote-on-account were discussed and decided.
The Cabinet has decided to induct Panisagar Constituency winner Binay Bhushan Das as Protem Speaker. He will take oath on March 15. Governor Satyadeo Narayan Arya will administer the oath to him. On March 16, the Protem Speaker will administer the oath to the remaining members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
After that, the election of the principal and vice-principal along with the election of the Chief Constable, Leader of the Opposition will be done. This time Tipra Matha will claim the status of the main opposition party in the assembly because Tipra Matha has won the most 13 seats as a single party apart from BJP. However, there is also a possibility that the Left Front and the Congress will join forces and claim opposition status. The two parties collectively won 14 seats.
According to BJP sources, there is no possibility of change of principal and vice-principal for now. Ratan Chakraborty, who was in charge during the previous government, will be reinstated as Principal and Bishwabandhu Sen as Vice-Principal. Of course, if they object to the duty in that position, then there will be new thinking. However, it doesn’t seem likely yet.
