Agartala: Sept 07: In November 2023, the Prime Minister’s Tribal Indigenous Justice Maha Abhiyan was launched with the primary goal of bringing marginalized tribal communities to the forefront. The government has initiated 22 projects under this campaign, aiming for 100% success. The campaign specifically focuses on the Riang tribal community.
The Riang tribal communities are located in the old Agartala block and Belbari RD block of the West district, as well as in Radha Mohanpur VC, Tula Kona Gram Panchayat, Radha Kishorenagar GP, Radhapura VC, and Champknagar area. The target is to achieve 100% success for all 22 projects in these VCs and Gram Panchayat areas. This announcement was made by the District Magistrate of West District, Dr. Vishal Kumar, during a press conference at the District Magistrate’s office on Saturday. He also mentioned that significant progress has been made in the last eight months.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Tribal Indigenous Justice Maha Abhiyan, those who did not receive houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have been provided with housing. Landless individuals have been given land through pattas, and every household has been supplied with drinking water through the Jal Jeevan Mission. Additionally, administrative camps have been established in various locations to deliver benefits to the Riang tribals through different projects.
