Kalyanpur, December 8: On December 6, the police arrested her husband Mintu Debbarma, the prime accused in the murder of Jasmine Debbarma, a Janjati housewife of Hazaribari area of Holongmutai ADC Village in Kalyanpur. Teliamura Sub-division Police Officer Prasun Kanti Tripura admitted to killing his wife and burying her in the ground during police interrogation.

On December 6, the dead body of Jasmine Debbarma (27), a resident of Hazaripara of Holongmutai ADC Village in Kalyanpur, was recovered. The police recovered the dead body in a thick forest two kilometers away from the house of the housewife in Hazaripara last Wednesday. Prasun Kanti Tripura, Teliamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer rushed to the news of the incident. As a result of a family dispute, the housewife, the mother of two sons, was killed by her husband Mintu Debbarma.

For some time there was a big quarrel between husband and wife. Jasmin’s house is in the area under Champahor police station in Khowai. It is also reported that the people of Jasmine’s father’s house come and reconcile after the husband and wife’s quarrel. Last Tuesday morning, husband and wife met in the rubber garden. After that, the husband and wife quarreled again in the forest adjacent to the rubber plantation. According to the police, at that time, Jasmine Debbarma was killed by hitting her with a sharp object. Then her body was buried by her husband. On receiving the news, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, the dead body was recovered from the ground and taken to Kalyanpur Hospital for post-mortem. A case was registered under Indian Penal Code Section 302/201/34 based on the written complaint of the uncle of the deceased. Currently the deceased’s husband Mintu Debbarma is absconding. Police have launched a vigorous search for him. Police took the case and started investigation.

Teliamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prasun Kanti Tripura said that Mintu Debbarma has been arrested from North Maharanipur area in connection with the murder. He said that during the police interrogation, he confessed to killing his wife and burying her in the ground.
