Agartala, May 24: The Pradesh Youth Congress has raised concerns over the state government’s employment data, urging clarity on the actual number of jobs created. At a press conference held at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan on Saturday, Pradesh Youth Congress President Nilkamal Saha stated that unemployment in Tripura remains a pressing issue.
According to Saha, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other ministers have provided varying figures regarding job creation, citing different numbers at public events—13,000, then 16,000, and most recently, 19,000. The Youth Congress argues that these discrepancies are misleading for job seekers and calls on the government to release accurate and consistent employment statistics.
Saha also highlighted concerns about rising substance abuse among young people due to limited job opportunities, further alleging that some drug dealers have political ties. He criticized the government for promoting outsourced positions and “die harness” jobs within its employment figures.
The Youth Congress has demanded that the government disclose the actual number of vacant posts in the state, emphasizing the need for transparency in job creation data.
