Agartala September 4: By-elections to 20 Boxanagar and 23 Dhanpur assembly constituencies on Tuesday. The polling agents left for the polling station from Sonamura Class XII Girls School on Monday and deployed to conduct fair and peaceful elections in two assembly constituencies.
A large number of paramilitary forces also arrived to the polling stations. District Magistrate of Sepahijala District Dr. Bishal Kumar visited the polling station in the afternoon to check the situation and the security of the polling stations. He talks to polling agents. He said that voting will continue from 7 Am in the morning to 4 PM in the afternoon on Tuesday. All arrangements are in place to ensure peaceful polling and people can exercise their democratic rights. He said that if a voter faces any kind of unpleasant incident or obstacle, there is a helpline number to complain. Voters in Boxanagar assembly constituency are about 43 thousand 87 people, 22 thousand 166 of them are male voters and 20 thousand 921 female voters,75 service voters, 510 voters above 80 years of age and 198 Divyangan voters.
On the other hand, there are about 50 thousand 147 voters in Dhanpur assembly constituency. Among them 25 thousand 944 male voters, 24 thousand 203 female voters, 85 service voters, 707 voters above 80 years of age, and 265 Divyangan voters. There are 51 polling stations at 43 locations in Boxanagar assembly constituency. Among them there are 3 polling stations in urban areas and 48 polling stations in rural areas. On the other hand, there are 59 polling stations at 50 locations in Dhanpur Assembly Constituency. All polling stations are located in rural areas. Strict security measures have been taken by the Election Commission in two assembly constituencies focusing on the by-elections. Counting will be done on September 8 after polling on September 5.
