Police seized Eskuf syrup, arrested nine

Agartala: Feb 04: On Monday, approximately Rs 30 lakh worth of Eskuf syrup was seized from Agartala railway station. Nine people were arrested in the operation jointly conducted by the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). GRP OC Tapas Das provided details of the operation, stating that the police had prior information about the potential smuggling of drugs in a container vehicle. Based on this information, the police launched the operation, resulting in the recovery of fifteen hundred Eskuf syrups after stopping a container vehicle.

The nine arrested individuals have been sent to court on police remand for questioning. The arrested persons are Amit Kumar Srivastava (resident of Bihar), Sintu Yadav (resident of Uttar Pradesh), Suman Mia (resident of Agartala Abhaynagar area), Chhoton Deb (resident of Kherpur), Akhtar Hossain (resident of Teliamura), Rajiv Sutradhar (resident of Agartala Krishnanagar area), Bazarul Islam (resident of Bishalgarh), Chan Mia (resident of Teliamura Rajnagar area), and Prasenjit Das (resident of Ampinagar). The police are currently interrogating the nine accused to gather more information.

 

It has been noted that drug dealers are using Tripura as a corridor for smuggling by utilizing the railway route. The authorities have emphasized the need for increased vigilance to prevent a rise in drug trafficking in Tripura in the future.
