On the occasion of Tripura’s Statehood Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to the people of the state, praising its rich cultural heritage, economic progress, and the resilience of its citizens. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Prime Minister highlighted Tripura’s remarkable transformation under the “double-engine government” and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to inclusive and balanced development in the Northeast.

Recalling his visit to the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple during Navaratri in September 2025, the Prime Minister noted the ongoing development works at the revered shrine. He underlined that initiatives under the vision of Purvodaya—including the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav and the GI tag recognition for indigenous products—are strengthening Tripura’s integration with the national mainstream.

Emphasising infrastructure growth, the Prime Minister referred to the inauguration of the integrated terminal at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in 2022, improved road and air connectivity, and policy reforms that have enhanced investment opportunities in the state. He commended Tripura’s farmers for leading the way in natural farming and adopting renewable energy through schemes such as PM-KUSUM. Highlighting peace-building efforts, he acknowledged the 2024 accords with the NLFT and ATTF, writing, “The people of Tripura have chosen peace over conflict and progress over uncertainty,” while invoking the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari for the state’s future.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, in a social media post, expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and reaffirmed Tripura’s commitment to unity, heritage, and prosperity. In a video message, he extended greetings to citizens and recalled January 21, 1972, when Tripura, along with Manipur and Meghalaya, attained full statehood.

Dr. Saha highlighted Tripura’s natural wealth—tea, rubber, forests, and cultural diversity—and credited the Centre’s Act East Policy for improving connectivity and development. He noted significant progress since 2018 in agriculture, education, healthcare, industry, women’s empowerment, and self-reliance. Citing economic achievements, he said Tripura ranks second in GSDP among northeastern states and has been recognised by NITI Aayog as a front-runner. He also announced that Tripura’s literacy rate has reached 95.6 per cent, making it India’s third fully literate state, calling it a historic milestone.

As Tripura celebrates Statehood Day, both leaders highlighted the state’s inspiring journey from conflict to peace and from isolation to connectivity, charting a confident path toward a brighter future.
