New Delhi, August 6:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the newly-constructed Kartavya Bhavan-03 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, calling it a symbol of the Centre’s commitment to building a Viksit (developed) and Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India. The building marks a major milestone in the Central Vista redevelopment project and is the first among several upcoming Common Central Secretariat buildings.

Spanning approximately 1.5 lakh square metres, Kartavya Bhavan-03 is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, housing key ministries such as Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser.

PM Modi, after inaugurating the complex, visited an exhibition showcasing the eco-friendly features of the building. He later took to X to share his thoughts, saying, “Kartavya Bhavan, on the path of duty, is a symbol of our unwavering commitment and continuous efforts toward serving every individual. It will boost efficient governance and accelerate national development.”

The Prime Minister also interacted with workers involved in the construction and expressed pride in their contributions. “Their hard work has shaped this symbol of modern India,” he said.

In line with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, PM Modi planted a sapling in the building’s courtyard, underscoring the government’s focus on environmental sustainability.

Kartavya Bhavan features cutting-edge security and energy-saving systems, including LED lighting with occupancy sensors, rooftop solar panels generating over 5.34 lakh units annually, zero-discharge waste management, EV charging stations, and IT-ready infrastructure.

The energy-efficient structure is designed to consume 30% less energy than conventional office buildings, integrating modernity with eco-conscious governance.

PM Modi is scheduled to address a public gathering at the venue later in the evening.
