Agartala, November 8:
Panchali Bhattacharjee, wife of former Tripura Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar, and Convener of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) Tripura State Committee, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of GB Hospital this evening after she suddenly fell ill.
According to family sources, Bhattacharjee experienced a sudden deterioration in her health following which she was immediately taken to the hospital. A team of doctors at GB Hospital is closely monitoring her condition and providing necessary medical care.
Upon hearing the news, several senior CPI(M) leaders, including Central Committee members Manik Dey and Ratan Bhowmik, along with State Secretariat members Sankar Dutta and Ratan Das, rushed to the hospital. They enquired about her condition from the attending doctors and extended their support to the family.
Panchali Bhattacharjee is known across Tripura and beyond for her decades-long commitment to women’s rights and grassroots activism. As the convener of AIDWA’s state unit, she has played a vital role in organizing women workers and raising issues related to gender equality, social justice, and welfare.
News of her sudden illness has caused deep concern among CPI(M) members and supporters across the state. Party workers and well-wishers have been expressing their prayers and best wishes for her speedy recovery.
Hospital sources said that Bhattacharjee’s condition is currently stable but she remains under strict medical observation. The CPI(M) state unit has conveyed gratitude to all those expressing concern and stated that further updates on her health will be shared as advised by the medical team.
