In a dramatic development, a 51-year-old Pakistani woman who allegedly escaped from a jail in Nepal was detained by security forces at Sabroom Railway Station in South Tripura on Saturday night. The woman has been identified as Sahina Parveen, a resident of Yaghanabad area in Sheikhupura district of Punjab province, Pakistan.

According to official sources, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. when the Sealdah–Sabroom Kanchanjunga Express arrived at Sabroom station. During a routine search operation, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) noticed the woman behaving suspiciously. Upon questioning, she revealed that she was a Pakistani national and had recently escaped from a prison in Nepal before entering India illegally.

The BSF subsequently handed her over to Sabroom Police for further investigation. Police sources confirmed that the woman was unable to produce any valid passport or visa, strengthening suspicions of illegal entry into Indian territory. She is currently being interrogated in phases to ascertain her motive and the circumstances under which she crossed multiple international borders.

Meanwhile, a team of Tripura Crime Branch officials has been dispatched from Agartala to assist in the investigation and determine whether the detained woman has any links to espionage or terrorist activities. Central intelligence agencies have also been informed and are closely monitoring the case.

A senior police officer at Sabroom Police Station said, “The woman claims to be from Sheikhupura in Pakistan. Her statement is being verified, and necessary legal action will be taken under international border and immigration laws.”

Following the incident, security measures across the Sabroom border region have been intensified, with joint patrols by BSF and state police to ensure heightened vigilance along the international frontier.
