Agartala: Oct 18: State opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury has criticized the BJP-IPFT-Tipra Motha coalition government following the death of a businessman and an alleged case of police brutality. Chowdhury’s comments came after visiting the family of Badal Tripura, who reportedly died after being tortured in police custody.

According to Chowdhury, on October 13th, police officers from Manubazar police station arrested Badal Tripura on suspicion of stealing rubber materials. He was allegedly beaten throughout the night and released the next day. Badal’s family took him to a local hospital, and he was later referred to Shantir Bazar District Hospital and then to GB Hospital, where he died on October 16th.
