Agartala, May 18: A central assessment team on Monday visited the Muhuripur Primary Health Centre (PHC) in South Tripura district to evaluate the facility for National Quality Certification, a significant step aimed at improving healthcare standards and patient services in the region.

The assessment is being carried out following an application submitted by the Medical In-Charge of the health centre, Dr. Rakesh Choudhury, who has been actively working towards the modernization and overall development of the hospital. Under his supervision, the health centre has reportedly undergone notable improvements in infrastructure, patient care services, cleanliness, and administrative management.

Officials said the quality certification process is expected to assess whether the health centre meets national standards in delivering healthcare services, maintaining hygiene, managing patient records, and ensuring effective hospital administration.

As part of the two-day evaluation programme, central assessment team members Samiran Sharma and Bijoy Chandra Jha inspected different sections of the health centre and reviewed multiple operational aspects. The inspection covered healthcare delivery systems, outpatient and inpatient services, patient safety measures, medicine management, staff performance, infrastructure quality, sanitation, and record maintenance.

Sources at the health centre said the assessment team also interacted with medical staff, healthcare workers, and patients to gather feedback regarding the functioning of the facility and the quality of services being provided.

The visit generated enthusiasm among local residents of the Muhuripur area, many of whom expressed hope that the certification process would lead to further improvements in healthcare infrastructure and medical services. Residents stated that the health centre plays an important role in providing treatment to people from surrounding rural areas, making quality enhancement highly important.

Locals also appreciated the initiatives taken by Dr. Rakesh Choudhury in strengthening the healthcare system at the PHC. Many acknowledged that the hospital has witnessed visible positive changes in recent years, including better patient management and improved treatment facilities.

Health officials believe that obtaining National Quality Certification would not only enhance the reputation of the Muhuripur Primary Health Centre but also help attract additional support and resources for future healthcare development in the area.
