Agartala: Feb 17: The battle of words between the ruling party and the opposition in Tripura has intensified over the general budget for the financial year 2025-26. Since Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget in Parliament, the opposition across the country, including Tripura, has united in criticizing it. In response, BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharjee lashed out at the opposition yesterday, accusing them of ignorance of economics. Today, CPM state secretary and opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury invited BJP leaders for an open discussion on the general budget.
Bhattacharya had criticized the opposition for not understanding the difference between central and state budgets, calling them ignorant and incompetent. This statement was made at a public meeting organized by the BJP Sadar District Committee in support of the central budget.
In response, Jitendra Chowdhury stated that BJP leaders are engaging in anti-Left politics out of frustration, as they realize that the BJP is gradually becoming alienated from the people. He accused the BJP of making false statements in public to maintain their influence. Chowdhury added that the BJP’s primary concern is the communists, as indicated by their statements.
Bhattacharjee had claimed that the opposition is ignorant of economics. In light of this, Chowdhury invited BJP leaders for an open discussion on the general budget, challenging their assertions.
